APPLICATIONS:

Welding of 9% Cr-1% Mo steels and 9% Cr – 2% Mo steels used for electric power and high pressure vessel.

DESCRIPTIONS:

PA-8016-B8 is a low hydrogen electrode whose weld metal consists of 9%Cr-1%Mo. It is designed for high temperature steel and steels for hot hydrogen services, particularly in petrochemical industry. The electrode can be approved for its high tensile strength, good toughness and great heat resistance.

NOTES ON USAGE:

1. Dry the electrodes at 350-400°C for about one hour before use and store the electrodes at 100-150°C after drying them with attention to keep away from moisture.

2. Adopt back step method or strike the arc on a small steel plate prepared for this particular purpose to prevent blowholes at the arc starting.

3. Keep the arc as short as possible.

4. Preheat at 100-150°C. The temperature to be applied varies in accordance with plate thickness and kind of steel to be welded.

5. Pay attention not to exceed proper heat-input because excessive heat-input causes deterioration of impact values and yield strength of weld metal.
