Stainless Steel Welding Electrode
A242
GB/T E317-16
AWS A5.4 E317-16
Description: A242 is a low-carbon Cr19Ni13Mo3 stainless steel electrode with titanium-calcium coating. It can be used for both AC and DC with excellent operating performance. The deposited metal has a higher molybdenum content than A202, and it has better corrosion resistance to non-oxidizing acids, such as sulfuric acid, sulfurous acid, phosphoric acid and organic acids. It also has a good effect against pitting corrosion.
Application: Used for the welding of the same type of stainless steel materials as well as composite steel and dissimilar steel.

Notice:
1. The electrode must be baked for 1 hour at 150℃ before welding operation;
2. Because the penetration depth is shallow during AC welding, the DC power supply should be used as much as possible to get deeper penetration. and the current should not be too large to avoid redness of the welding rod.
